Subsea compute engineering vessels

Specialized vessels for deploying and servicing subsea capsules; ROV/AUV route planning, dynamic positioning and lift-operation safety monitoring driven by AI.

Engineering concept illustration; not a photograph of a CAII deployment.

Proposed research programme. The goals, methods and outputs below are planning proposals, not confirmed deployments, funded commitments or guaranteed results. Site selection, permits, environmental review and engineering validation remain prerequisites.

Work undertaken · evidence status

CAII progress not verified

No verifiable CAII project reports, test records or deployment evidence have been supplied for this direction. Undertaken work cannot yet be confirmed. This does not establish that no work has occurred. External sources below document third-party methods or trials, not CAII achievements.

Research goals

  1. 01

Study safe deployment, inspection and retrieval of subsea compute capsules.

  2. 02

Improve coordination between vessel crews, lifting systems and underwater robots.

Technical pathway

  1. 01

Mission design — assess port support, vessel capability, weather windows, seabed access and lift loads.

  2. 02

Assisted operations — simulate dynamic positioning and ROV/AUV inspection paths, integrating sonar and cable tracking under operator supervision.

  3. 03

Safety validation — rehearse launch, recovery and loss-of-power scenarios; define stop-work limits and check applicable marine and class requirements.

Expected outputs

Proposed deliverables · not completed results

  1. 01

A vessel capability specification and capsule deployment-and-recovery workflow.

  2. 02

Mission-planning and inspection prototypes, risk register and emergency response procedures.
